I was inspired by watching Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Costume designer Colleen Atwood is well-known for her Hollywood repertoire and her whimsical vision for Alice is truly an amazing feast for the eyes. In particular, these soft, romantic asymmetrical layers are what really caught my fancy.
This lovely bride knew exactly how to channel this glamorous look with a sleek chignon and a matching color veil.
Hailing from our favorite city, Hong Kong, Candice Luk is an up-and-coming jewelry designer who should be on your wedding radar. Her two lines of jewelry, Candice Fine Jewellery and Gild the Lily are modern approaches to vintage jewelry and a nod to all things nostalgic. Both lines are handmade in Hong Kong and designed by Candice Luk.
We love the stackable Harper Nut ringers made from 18K gold and diamonds, and the Victorian inspired sapphire and diamond heirloom ring (perfect for your something blue). Candice can also design bespoke wedding rings for brides and grooms to be.
Candice Luk Fine Jewellery is available at Lane Crawford or shop online at CandiceLuk.com (Red Sole Bride readers can receive a 10% discount when you enter ‘redsolebride’ at the checkout!!!)
Kate’s newest collection for Topshop has just launched at topshop.com and I’ve already snagged my share! This is Miss Moss’ 12th collection for Topshop to date. Lace, beading, vintage floral patterns and loosely draped tops are the order of the day. For the bride on a budget, these three maxi dresses are available for US$200-300, but better act fast.
I must apologize for my long leave of absence. Hubby and I were on a honeymoon! That’s right, to the Middle East. Not a very conventional choice of destination, but a magical and unforgettable one. We saw everything from King Herod’s ancient ruins to the modern city nights of Tel Aviv. We floated in the Dead Sea and enjoyed spaaaa-ing at a Dead Sea resort then made our way to the indescribable ruins of Petra.
Clockwise from top: Sunset at the Dead Sea, the treasury at Petra, Matthew on the road to Petra, the Movenpick Petra lobby, the Mediterranean at Ceasarea, crusader halls in Akko, grilled tilapia fish with caramelized beets at Uri Buri (Akko)
I love spring because it’s peony season. Each year, I fill my home with peonies and watch them slowly bloom with luscious thick petals. This year, I’ve also added gardenias into the mix for its pretty cream petals and delicate fragrance that fills any room you place them in. Gardenias are also perfect for making boutonnieres.
American classic Ralph Lauren just launched their flagship store in Paris last week. Chinese supermodel Du Juan was there to celebrate the brand’s store opening and showed up in a stunning RL Fall ‘09 dress. She looks ultra fresh and elegantly understated.
