I was inspired by watching Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Costume designer Colleen Atwood is well-known for her Hollywood repertoire and her whimsical vision for Alice is truly an amazing feast for the eyes. In particular, these soft, romantic asymmetrical layers are what really caught my fancy.

I must apologize for my long leave of absence. Hubby and I were on a honeymoon! That’s right, to the Middle East. Not a very conventional choice of destination, but a magical and unforgettable one. We saw everything from King Herod’s ancient ruins to the modern city nights of Tel Aviv. We floated in the Dead Sea and enjoyed spaaaa-ing at a Dead Sea resort then made our way to the indescribable ruins of Petra.

I love spring because it’s peony season. Each year, I fill my home with peonies and watch them slowly bloom with luscious thick petals. This year, I’ve also added gardenias into the mix for its pretty cream petals and delicate fragrance that fills any room you place them in. Gardenias are also perfect for making boutonnieres.
